Holiday Garbage & Recycling Make-up Day This Wednesday

In observance of the July 4th holiday, the City of Dothan offices will be closed on Friday, July 3, 2015. There will be no pick-up for garbage (automated green cart), recycling, or trash (leaves, limbs, junk, etc). The make-up day for garbage and recycling collection is scheduled for earlier in the week on Wednesday, July 1, 2015.

A Night of Songs & Stories with "Uncle Si" Robertson

Tickets are now on sale for A Night of Songs & Stories with "Uncle Si" Robertson.  Silas "Uncle Si" Robertson returns to Dothan on July 18th at the Dothan Civic Center.  This event will benefit the Wiregrass Children's Home. The start time is 7:00 pm.

July 4th Fireworks At The Fairgrounds

Come celebrate Independence Day at the National Peanut Festival Fairgrounds.  The afternoon will be filled with fun and activities and the night sky filled with fantastic fireworks.  The gates will open at 5:00 pm with FREE admission.  A $10 per vehicle parking donation will be requested that will go to the Wiregrass United Way.

Town Hall Meeting With Senator Jeff Sessions


The City of Dothan will hold a Town Hall Meeting with Senator Jeff Sessions on Monday, June 29th. The meeting will take place at The Dothan Opera House at 4 p.m. Dothan Mayor Mike Schmitz will moderate the event.

Youth Fall Sports Registration July 13 - 17

Dothan Leisure Services is announcing registration for the 2015 Youth Football,
Cheerleading, & Soccer Programs. Registration will be held Monday – Friday, July 13-17
from 3:00pm-6:00pm & Saturday, July 18 from 9:00am-12:00pm at the City of Dothan
Recreation Centers. Please register at the center in your region. Each sport has a $25
registration fee, with football having an additional $20 uniform deposit.
Ages as follows: Football (Boys 9-12), Cheerleading (Girls 9-12), Soccer (Boys & Girls 6-
18). Participants MUST be Dothan residents.

Honey Workshop at Landmark Park

The Wiregrass Beekeepers and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System will be at Landmark Park this Saturday, June 27th to teach you everything you ever wanted to know about bees.  The workshop begins at 10:00 AM and is open to the public and free with your paid gate admission to the park.  Come and watch as honey is extracted from the bee hives and bottled for your purchase.  Honey will be sold as long as supplies last.  A pint of honey will be available for $8.

Landmark Park is a 135-acre natural and cultural history museum.  It is Alabama's official Museum of Agriculture.  It is located on Hwy 431, just 2.7 miles north of the Ross Clark Circle.  For more info, call Landmark Park at 334-794-3452.

Rick Burgess Coming to Dothan, July 10th

Rick Burgess, from the Rick & Bubba Show, is coming to Dothan on Friday, July 10, at 7pm to Harvest Church.  Join in for a night of faith, fellowship, and fun! Tickets are on sale for $10 and are available at each of the Goldfinger’s locations, the Harvest Church office or at Harvestdothan.com 
Rick Burgess is the co-host of the nationally syndicated Rick and Bubba Show that reaches over 1 million people a week. Rick is heard across the nation on 70+ radio stations and seen daily in over 100 markets via the Heartland Network. Proceeds from the event will go to the Dothan Education Foundation to continue their mission to improve student achievement for all Dothan City School students, maintain continuous school improvement and to engage the citizens of Dothan with its public schools.

Campers will get messy with mixed media from collage to spray paint. They will also learn about the quilts of Gee's Bend and get to take a Mural Tour. All new projects, all supplies included!

PLAY IN THE CLAY POTTERY CAMP

In this hands-on clay camp, students will learn a variety of ceramic techniques including pinch, surface decoration, glazing and more! Each student will create at least 3 unique projects to take home. Lynn Koning, an experienced Wiregrass potter, will be leading a hand-building clay camp. Due to drying and firing time, students will create then return on Monday, July 27, for glazing and surface decoration. Pieces will be ready to take home on August 1st. All supplies included. Space is limited, sign up today!
