"Souper Bowl" Food Drive

This time of year, a hot bowl of soup really hits the spot and provides a filling, nutritious meal that's simple to prepare. That's why each year during this time the Wiregrass Area United Way Food Bank conducts a soup drive to benefit the Brown Bag Program.  The Brown Bag Program provides a few extra groceries to needy area senior citizens. The "Souper Bowl" soup drive is currently in progress and runs until the Super Bowl, which is Feb. 1 this year.
The Food Bank along with Toyota of Dothan, will be at Northside Wal-Mart Wednesday, January 28, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. collecting soup and monetary donations. The Food Bank, Toyota of Dothan and the DAV will also be at the Southside Wal-Mart Friday, Jan. 30 from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. collecting donations. If you can't stop by Wal-Mart, call the Food Bank at (334) 794-9775 to find out how to help. All of the soup that is collected will be distributed through the Brown Bag program, a program that provides supplemental groceries to low-income senior citizens in the Wiregrass. If your organization would like to serve as a drop-off location, or to donate cans of soup, please call the Food Bank at (334) 794-9775.
